Interim Senior Minister, Rev. Dr. Cameron Douglas’ message is, “Up A Tree With Zacchaeus” based on Luke 19:1-10

Overview

We all recognize the person of Zacchaeus; the wee little man. But did you know his name means “pure” or “innocent” in Greek? He certainly was anything but that in the way he earned his living as a Roman tax collector. But truth be told none of us are perfect! Only when we encounter Jesus can we begin to “turn around” (i.e. repent) and strive to live as Jesus would have us live.

Jesus calls Zacchaeus down from his perch in a tree and asks if he could go to his house for lunch. With those words of invitation came Jesus’ acceptance, forgiveness, hope, and peace. All those things Zacchaeus desperately wanted and needed. When he realized that Jesus believed in him, he started to believe in himself and with that he was transformed into a giving, honest, giant of a man!
