Sunday Service 9:30 am

18 Feb 2024 | 09:30 am - 10:30 am

Scripture:                   1 Peter 3: 18-22, Mark 1: 9-15

Sermon Title:             Baptism, Temptation, and Ministry

Sermon Theme:         In the lesson for today Jesus’ identity and mission were established; he was tempted, prepared to spread the good news, and he began his ministry with a message that would change the world around him.  Yet, throughout these events Jesus’ humanity is stressed.  His baptism, the fear he felt in the wilderness and his temptation mirror the experiences of our lives.  Why is Jesus’ humanity so important to Christianity?  Because it reminds us that God became flesh so God could know our struggles, understand our fear, and be aware of what it means to be human beings.
