What We Believe
Christians approach their faith from a variety of traditions and experiences, and we believe there is room for all of them at First Christian Church. We come to the congregational life with respect even for perspectives that are very different from our own, and we have found that we can still love each other even as we differ.
We study scriptures
for ourselves
We are called to study and read scripture for ourselves. Rather than having tests of faith and creedal statements, we critically and thoughtfully study scripture, taking into account the history and background – the context – in which it was written.
Baptism
Previously baptized individuals need only to profess a belief in Christ to be part of our church family. We practice baptism by immersion, but we honor other baptism traditions.
We believe that God calls everyone to Ministry
God calls everyone, men, women, and children to ministry making all Disciples ministers in the church
Communion
The Lord’s Supper or Communion is celebrated in weekly worship. It is open to all who are followers of Jesus Christ. The practice of Holy Communion has become the central element of worship within the Disciples tradition.
Our Confession
As members of the Christian Church,
We confess that Jesus is the Christ,
the Son of the living God,
and proclaim him Lord and Savior of the world.
We confess that Jesus is the Christ,

and proclaim him Lord and Savior of the world.
