Interim Senior Minister, Rev. Dr. Cameron Douglas’ message is, “Whatever Became of Sin?” based on Romans 5:1-11.
Overview
It certainly seems as though the word “sin” is not being used much any more. We use a lot of other euphemisms, BUT sin still has power over us and does still possess us. I like this old Sunday School definition of sin: “Sin” is a three letter word with “i” in the middle — a very large capital “I” as in a SELFISH, self-centered existence. Sin is NOT living a good, just, moral, righteous life for God or anyone else.
The Apostle Paul tells us that the wages of sin is death, that’s pretty strong language. He goes on to say that the gift of God is eternal LIFE. The gift of God makes all the difference in the world. Life comes to us as we turn from (repent) of sin and accept God’s gracious gift of forgiveness. Paul says that God has provided a way for us to receive eternal life through Jesus, and his sacrifice on the cross, as we turn to him for forgiveness.
