Interim Senior Minister, Rev. Dr. Cameron Douglas’ message is, “The Mirth of Easter” based on Matthew 28:1-10.
Overview:
The dictionary defines “mirth” as amusement especially as expressed in laughter. Easter is a time when Christians celebrate the resurrected Jesus who did not stay in the grave. He arose. I can only imagine that when Jesus awoke that first Easter Sunday he must have laughed! Can you hear it, his laugh echoing throughout all time and eternity?
The joke is on the devil! Evil cannot win. God is never defeated! Clearly God has a fabulous sense of humor! It is the mirth of Easter that is the surprise ending to God’s love story for all humankind. Easter is the amusing twist in the plot of God’s love story. Death cannot destroy Jesus and death cannot contain him, he arose! He is alive! He is laughing, Hallelujah, he is risen.
