Overview

The disciples (and company) are full of grief and fear gathered behind locked doors. Jesus bodily enters the room and brings them peace, relieving their guilt and fear. This story is John’s version of the Pentecost story with Jesus breathing the Holy Spirit upon the disciples.

Jesus brings us peace just as he did to those first century disciples. God is searching for us, never giving up on us, and God wants us to have peace too. Jesus’ presence is a forgiving and loving presence both then and as it is today. Jesus doesn’t let death get in the way of bringing us peace.
