Sermon:                      Breaking the Cycle of Sin

Sermon Theme:         The beginning of this passage is actually the end of an argument, but this debate still continues to this day as we search for a reasonable understanding of God in the world.  There are still those who want everything about God to be rational and reliant upon their experience, but we know this is not the case.  There are some mysteries of God that are not supposed to be understood.  In John, as Jesus moves from debate to statement of faith, we are shown what drives us to form a deeper connection with our Lord.  We are given a glimpse of the love, mercy, and grace that God provides and reminded that it is our utter dependence upon Christ that allows us to break from the cycle of sin and come to the light.
