Sermon Title:             A Mountaintop Experience

Sermon Theme:         At its basis, the Christian faith is not about our desires and it does not call us to be realistic.  Religion asks us to move beyond how we think the world should be and call us to the Beatitudes, to works of mercy, the sharing of miracles, acts of irrational love and the burning justice of God.  That is what the Transfiguration is about, changing ourselves so we can change the world.  The transfiguration calls us to be different, to have a mountaintop experience, to be changed so we can go forth and be God’s miracles in the world.  Are we ready for this challenge, or will we leave this place in a fog thinking no one would believe us?
