07 Aug 2016 | 08:15 am

This Sunday, August 7, we return to our regular worship schedule.  8:15 am Casual Service, 9:15 am Sunday School, and 10:30am Traditional Service.

There will be different messages at the 8:15 and 10:30 services.

At 8:15 – Interim Senior Minister, Rev. Dr. Cameron Douglas’ message is, “Walking by Faith, Not by Sight” based on Hebrews 11:1-3, 8-16

Overview

What does it mean to live by faith? Can we live without faith? Living by faith doesn’t mean we will live long and prosper (yes, a reference to Mr. Spock) or “successfully.” It does mean we live victoriously. Living victoriously is living above all those things that can destroy us, like death, for example. It means we are freed to see our way forward as faith will empower us to move forward in our lives.

To live by faith is to live by a vision not yet complete. If we could see it clearly and hold it firmly, what role does faith have? Faith is to cast our gaze upon that which is not yet, or not even likely to be yet, BUT live as though it already is present and has happened. Faith begins with a promise and a vision of a different kind of life in Jesus Christ.

At 10:30 – Members of our Christian Youth Fellowship Summer Mission Team will share their experiences and observations from the Appalachia Service Project.
