Interim Senior Minister, Rev. Dr. Cameron Douglas’ message is, “Answers for Unanswered Prayer” based on Exodus 2:23-25.
We will never have all the answers to unanswered prayer, but the story of the Exodus in the Hebrew scriptures provides us with some important perspectives when we are struggling with the silence of heaven. In Exodus 2:23, Israel cries out for God to deliver them from their bondage in Egypt. The people waited for twelve long chapters, which seemed an eternity, before God completely answered their prayers. But we learn a few lessons from their waiting.
God is answering prayers before we pray them. God knows us and our circumstance and loves us completely. God cares and is concerned for us even when our prayers are not answered the way we expect or want them to be answered. God is an ever-present helper in our need. I like this summary statement:
Stop telling God how big your storm is.
Instead tell your storm how big your God is!
Yes, and to that I say, AMEN.
