Sermon Title:             Tempting Isn’t It

Sermon Theme:         Most of the things that tempt us, by themselves, have no positive or negative value unless we use them for destructive purposes.  The true temptation in this passage, and in our lives, is to treat God as something less than God.  We constantly mistrust God’s readiness to empower us in the face of trial and we certainly have a hard time putting God first.  Jesus shows us that we are able to resist temptation even in the midst of persecution and strife.  Through his life we are reminded that the easy and comfortable way is not always best way, instead we are called to live authentically in sacrifice and service.
