Sermon:                      What Did Jesus Say?

Sermon Theme:         The words of Luke today call us to reexamine our priorities and the importance of people, power, and possessions in our lives.  We are not to be naïve with our blessings, but as Jesus said in Matthew 10, “we are to be as wise as serpents and innocent as doves.”  This dichotomy is a necessary part of our faith; it reminds us of our call to be a part of but separate from the world.

Jesus is telling us that business people are shrewder in dealing with money that we are in dealing with eternal salvation.  If something works use it, if an idea has merit try it.  We spend so much time worrying about our earthly future that we forget that our future is in God’s hands.
