Sermon:                      Listening Again

Sermon Theme:         Jesus’ friends and neighbors were not prepared to hear that their understanding of God was flawed.  So they stayed mired in the past, remembering the child Jesus, clinging to their understanding of Yahweh, and hoping that God would act as they thought God should act.

They needed to listen again to the word of God and we need to do the same.  When we hear this passage do we realize that it has been fulfilled before us?  That God has already sent the Messiah, and because of this blessing we are called to be a part of his ministry to the world?  Or do we just nod and say that was nice as we make plans for the rest of the week.
