Sermon:                      Dreaming of God

Sermon Theme: The story of Jacob speaks so strongly to us because we can see ourselves in Jacob.  We all live lives of grasping, climbing, and self-indulgence, lying to ourselves and tricking others to get what we want and then suddenly we are aware of the presence of God in our lives.  We may not have a dream or actually see God, but we experience the presence of our Creator, are reminded of how broken we are, that the world can hold a great deal of power over us and at the same time filled with the sense that God loves us anyway.  So often when we deserve a blasting, God gives us a blessing.
