Sermon Theme: The parables of Jesus still cause us to think, to struggle, and to discern the will of God in the world.  We are not called to be mindless automatons quoting scripture that we do not understand or follow in our lives.  If we do this then our faith is empty and useless like a burned out light bulb. Yet, we know that our great caregiver, who created the heavens and the earth and causes all things to grow and change, has not given up on us.  Even in the depths of our doubt and despair we are called to shine brightly in the darkness and call others to see the light of Christ.
