Sermon:                      Triumphal Entry and Quiet Withdrawal

Sermon Theme:         It is easy for us to shake our heads at the crowd and wonder at the stupidity of the disciples when we read this passage.  We know what happens next, we know of the defeat of death and the glory of the resurrection.  Like Peter we all believe that we can guide and shape our Lord so that he fits our needs, rather than bowing humbly at the feet of the creator and transforming ourselves to meet his needs.  Jesus will always shatter our shallow visions and exceed our expectations.  For his strength and power is not founded within humanity but in God.

It is true that we will know Christ only in part, but through God’s grace, we are allowed to share in the gift of forgiveness and salvation offered long ago but still vital to humanity.
