Sermon Theme: What we forget about Samuel’s call to prophecy is that it did not begin with good news, but a prophet is someone who is willing to tell the truth to a priest, a king, a mentor, a friend or anyone who walks in a way that is contrary to the will of God. We also live in a time where the word of the LORD is rare, where visions of the LORD’S works are not widespread and corruption abounds. But God is calling us. We may hear God in the voice of a child, in the actions of a Good Samaritan, or in the works of the church when it goes forth to provide justice and seek mercy.
