Overview

The scripture is the Sermon on the Mount and specifically the Beatitudes. These are not entrance requirements to the Kingdom of God, but eschatological blessings pointing to a time when God makes whole that which is broken and fragmented by sin. We are a broken people. God is here to intervene in human history and wants to bless us, comfort us, fill us, and show mercy on us!

The lasting and more satisfying happiness that God gives is connected to the kind of person we are! “Blessed are the meek … those who hunger and thirst for righteousness … the merciful … the pure in heart … the peacemakers.”
