Overview

In times of crisis we can show gratitude for simple joys in life. I know it’s hard, but shouldn’t we give thanks for what cannot be taken away in difficult and trying times? That’s where our American Thanksgiving Day celebration comes from. The Puritans and the Native Americans joined in their sufferings, with contentious feelings toward one another, and yet celebrated thankfully for the little they had.

How do we teach our children the value of generosity? We set the example. They will follow when we model thankfulness. Generosity flows from thanksgiving. That is exactly what the Apostle Paul instructs in the Philippians passage. Thank God and give graciously no matter how small the gift and it will be a blessing to you.
